Letter and photos from Sherry in Zimbabwe

Late April, 2008

HI Susan

We had an awesome time at Saffron on Sunday afternoon after our service pastor Nico Taffy and I went out to distribute the mealie meal maize and kapenta and join their fellowship which they moved from the Saturday evening to the Sunday afternoon. We were able to give out 150kg maize and 50kg mealie meal and dried kapenta to all those who have been registered as needing help and support.

Mrs. Violet Kachigunda is a widow with 4 dependant children and 3 grandchildren. She has a small field where she is growing sweet potatoes which helps feed her family and gives her some extra to sell for maize when its available. Her children are Hilda (15) John(13) Jonah(7) and Talent (5) and her grandchildren are Beauty(12) Blessing(8) and Beverley(6):

Susan I hope these photos help to put a face to the names we have given you. Some of the orphans and widows did not come on Sunday when I was taking photos but we will be going out at least once a month to continue with support and our team will advise when there is any urgent needs during the month as they will see the mothers and children at the weekly fellowship meetings.

We were so blessed to see the joy on the faces of all the mothers and children and know that we are extending God's love . We are conscious of helping relationally rather than handing out help to whoever comes along with needs as this can become overwhelming so every one of those who received assistance is part of the regular fellowship group and we are building good relationship with them. Many gave testimony of how they are trusting God and have seen the blessings in their lives. This is awesome as we don't want them to look to us as their source but always to our Heavenly Father.

We will continue to purchase food stuff with the money you sent and also pay any medial or school assistance as and when there is need . I will take my camera each time we go out so I can take regular photo updates.

God bless you all

Sherry
